Frontier School Board will meet to discuss interim superintendent candidates

Frontier Central School Board members will meet July 18 to discuss possible interim superintendents to serve after Superintendent Bret Apthorpe joins the Jamestown City Schools as superintendent on Sept. 1.

The board accepted Apthorpe's resignation Thursday night.

School Board President Janet MacGregor Plarr said the board will meet with Erie 1 BOCES Superintendent Lynn Fusco in executive session to discuss possible interim candidates. The board also wants to learn what Erie 1 BOCES can offer in a superintendent's search, Plarr said.

"We may go with an interim," she said.

She also said three board members would be on the search committee looking for a new high school principal. Jeffrey Sortisio is leaving the high school to become superintendent of the Fredonia Central School District on July 21. She said she hopes a new principal can be in place before school starts in September.

Also Thursday, Plarr was re-elected board president by a 4-3 vote, and David Patton was unanimously elected as vice president of the board.
