Lancaster’s Leugim “LG” Castillo, the Prep Talk Baseball Player of the Year, received some national recognition on Tuesday.
The Legends’ three-sport start was named as one of the outfielders on the MaxPreps All-America second team.
Castillo, who will either go on to the University of Oklahoma or sign with the Milwaukee Brewers, batted .577 with a .622 on-base percentage and a 1.028 slugging percentage for Lancaster’s ECIC I championship team last spring. He was the 504th player selected when Milwaukee drafted him in the 17th round of the Major League Draft last month.
The MaxPrep Player of the year was outfielder Jordan Adell of Ballard High in Louisville, Ky. Thirty players were on the MaxPrep first All-American team and 30 on the second team. Castillo was among six outfielders named to the second team. He was one of two athletes from New York State selected. Quentin Holmes, an outfielder from Monsignor McClancy High in Queens was a first team selection.
