Letter: Banks make millions at customers’ expense

Banks make millions at customers’ expense

Why should big banks get free money? This is a question that was asked in a recent commentary in The News. Indeed, I have been asking myself this very same question for quite some time now. Why is the same money worth 12 to 14 percent when I am using the bank’s money (MasterCard), but only a fraction of 1 percent when the bank is using my money? (Savings account.)

How do we get these numbers closer together so we can all enjoy a more equitable piece of the financial pie? I ask the powers that be: What can be done about this major disparity?
