The rehab of Aaron Sanchez will continue in Buffalo on Sunday as the Toronto Blue Jays officially announced the righthy would start for the Bisons on Sunday.
Sanchez will take the mound for the Herd when they host the Syracuse Chiefs at 1:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field.
A 2016 All-Star, Sanchez was placed on the disabled list May 20 with a laceration on the middle finger of his throwing hand.
Sanchez made five starts with the Blue Jays this year, going 0-1 with a 3.33 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings of work. Last year, the righty went 15-2 with an American League-best 3.00 ERA in 30 starts. His .882 winning percentage also led the AL and was the highest by a Blue Jays starter in the franchise’s history.
Sanchez made his Triple-A debut with the Bisons in 2014, going 0-3 with a 4.19 ERA in eight games and six starts. He also made a three-game MLB injury rehab appearance with the Herd in 2015.
