The Lewiston man who triggered a shelter-in-place order in the area around his Pletcher Road home on Sunday night faces rape, kidnapping and strangulation charges, according to police.
Jon Ellington, 44, was arrested outside his home in the 900 block of Pletcher shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday after a search by members of four law enforcement agencies, Lewiston police said.
Police imposed a shelter-in-place order for about two hours Sunday night as authorities were attempting to locate Ellington. The search was triggered by a 911 call Saturday night for a domestic incident, police said.
Police charged Ellington with first-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Lewiston Town Court and held without bail. He's being held in the Niagara County Jail.
In addition to Lewiston police, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Border Patrol and the State Police assisted with the search.
