3 fishermen saved from overturned boat during storm on Chautauqua Lake

Three men fishing on Chautauqua Lake were saved Sunday morning when their boat overturned during a storm, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office said.

High winds and waves shortly after 11 a.m. caused the 14-foot boat to overturn in about 18 feet of water near the Interstate-86 overlook area, the Sheriff's Office said.

The three men rescued were identified as Nicholas L. Gibbons, 32, of Jamestown; Nathan Gibbons, 31, of Kent, Ohio; and Thomas Parks, no age given, of Jamestown.

Members of the Bemus Point Fire Rescue team and navigation officers from the Sheriff's Office saved the three men who clung to the side of the boat.
