SUMMER BOOKINGS – Dog Ears Bookstore, 688 Abbott Road, hosts three free reading and writing camps for kids and teens this summer.
The first week-long camp, sponsored by South Council Member Chris Scanlon for youngsters in his district, begins from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for kids 7 and 8. A camp for students aged 12 and 13 begins July 10, for those aged 9 to 11 on July 17.
A camp for high school students runs 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays July 6 to Aug. 24.
Erie County Youth Services sponsors a camp open to all Erie County residents, beginning 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 24 for 7 and 8 year olds. A camp for those 9 to 11 starts July 31, for students 12 and 13 on Aug. 14.

BARGAIN TIME – Salem Lutheran Church, 10 McClellan Circle at Whitfield Avenue and McKinley Parkway, will hold an outdoor garage sale in conjunction with the McKinley Parkway Street Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

EATS AND MORE – Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 345 Main St.., East Aurora, will hold a Strawberry Festival and Jumble Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The sale of antiques, collectibles and household items ends with a $2 bag sale from 2 to 3 p.m.

Blessed Mother Teresa Parish at St. James Church, 496 Terrace Blvd., Depew, will hold a Krolick’s chicken barbecue and theme basket auction from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Dinners are $10. Mac and cheese for kids is $3. A beer and wine tent will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. with music by Cock Robin.

Salem Lutheran Church, 10 McClellan Circle, will host a chicken barbecue from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Dinners are $11 adults, $6 kids 5 to 12.

St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 12 Embry Place at Walden Avenue, Lancaster, will hold a BW’s chicken and rib barbecue from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Chicken dinners are $10. Ribs are $12.
