BLOWERS, Jeannie Marie

BLOWERS - Jeannie Marie
76, of Grand Island, went to be with her Lord on June 18, 2017, three days after her 54th anniversary to Charles, at the Schofield Skilled Nursing Facility after a courageous 11-month battle with cancer. She was born May 23, 1941 in Schenectady, NY to Arthur and Betty Comstock. Jeannie graduated from Colonie Central School District in 1958. She graduated from Gordon College, a private Christian liberal arts college, in Wenham, MA, with a degree in Elementary Education in 1963. She married Charles Blowers on June 15, 1963 and taught first grade between 1963 and 1966 in Gloucester and Salisbury, MA and Scotia, NY. She played the piano and organ, was a lover of music and was an award-winning knitter, despite being blind. She provided many years of joyful service to her two churches, Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Schenectady and Bible Presbyterian Church on Grand Island, where she became known as the "Story Lady" for Vacation Bible School. She is survived by her husband Charles; three children: Chris (Christine) of New York, John (Christine) of Maryland and James (Jean) of Illinois; seven grandchildren: Craig, Clarissa, Caleb, Nathaniel, Ben, Emily and Bryan; and two sisters Margie Powell of Ohio and Marilyn (Roger) Truax of New York. Her wonderful, joyful spirit made her beloved by countless friends and she touched the lives of everyone she met throughout her entire life, up until God called her home. A Memorial Service will be held at Bible Presbyterian Church, 1650 Love Rd., Grand Island, Friday, June 23, 2017 at 7 PM, followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peniel Bible Conference, 336 Lake Tour Rd., PO Box 369, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846. We would like to thank Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Schofield Care and Hospice Care for their selfless, loving and personal time, effort and energy that were invested in caring for Jeannie. May God bless them and keep them.
