A missing 37-year-old woman was found safe in a nature preserve in Clarence just before midnight Sunday, State Police report.
State troopers, park rangers and volunteer firefighters searched Tillman Road Wildlife Management Area in Clarence for about three hours Sunday night for the woman, a State Police dispatcher said. The woman, whose name was not released, was apparently unharmed, the dispatcher added.
Earlier in the evening, the Clarence woman sent a text message to a family member and the family contacted authorities. The woman was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, State Police said.
The 235-acre nature preserve, maintained by the State Department of Environmental Conservation between the Thruway and Wehrle Drive and Bergtold Road, contains wetlands, a cattail marsh and forested areas with boardwalks and hiking trails.
