Organizers hope the first Chase the Sun Yoga Festival on Saturday will allow participants to enjoy the Outer Harbor in a healthy way.

A 5K run, yoga classes and meditation are on tap in the Outer Harbor on Saturday during the first Chase the Sun Yoga Festival.

Love in Motion Yoga co-owners Kate Rogers and Kathleen Engelhardt came up with the idea for the festival, which will start at 9 a.m. with the run.

“We had this idea of doing a 5K, having a recovery yoga class after the 5K and giving people a break to walk around and enjoy the waterfront,” Rogers said. “Then they can come back for a little bit more rigorous yoga class and a meditation to round out the day.”

The event, which ends about 4 p.m., also will include food trucks, vendors, a DJ, African dance and kayaking/paddle boarding classes.

All are welcome to visit the food trucks and vendors. Those wishing to participate in the run and classes can sign up in advance on the Saturday tab at outerharborbuffalo.com. Cost is $45 and proceeds will go to Journey’s End Refugee Center. You also may sign up and pay at the event.
