Iowa motorcyclist suffers leg injury in Tonawanda crash

A motorcyclist from out of state suffered a serious leg injury after he was struck by another vehicle Thursday at Niagara and Seymour streets in the City of Tonawanda, police said.

Troy Gene Walker, 50, of Plano, Iowa, was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where his condition was unavailable. Walker was one of four motorcyclists from Iowa who were traveling to Niagara Falls and on to Nova Scotia, Canada, when Walker was struck broadside about 12:05 p.m. at the intersection by a vehicle driven by Arkell D. Harris Jr., 17, of  North Tonawanda, according to police. Harris told officers that his brakes failed when he tried to stop at a red light, police said.

Police were continuing their investigation into the accident.
