The Amherst Planning Board on Thursday night put on hold a Delta Sonic proposed for Niagara Falls Boulevard to give the developer time to meet with neighbors to address their concerns about the project.

Delta Sonic is planning to build a car wash, gas station, oil change and lube building, convenience store and drive-thru restaurant at the longtime home of Menne Nursery, which is moving. The 10-acre site sits between Niagara Falls Boulevard and Old Niagara Falls Boulevard, just north of East Robinson Road.

Delta Sonic needs a zoning change for the site, from general business to motor service. A number of Old Niagara Falls Boulevard residents, and other speakers, expressed concern at Thursday's board meeting about increased traffic, a lack of information from the developer and whether this is a suitable location for this type of business.

The Planning Board voted to table any action on Delta Sonic's request for a zoning change until its August meeting.
