Come Saturday, Vidler’s 5 & 10, 676-694 Main St., East Aurora, holds its 87th anniversary party. The annual cake-cutting will take place at 11 a.m., with free cake as long as it lasts. Dimes will be given to youngsters for popcorn and rides on Sandy, the store’s mechanical horse.

FLOAT IN – The annual Dragon Boat Festival to benefit breast cancer survivors will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo Riverworks, 359 Ganson St. In addition to the colorful boats, there will be vendors, concessions, refreshments, children’s activities and entertainment.
Admission is free. Proceeds go to Hope Chest, which offers free exercise classes for breast cancer survivors at the three Buffalo Athletic Club for Women locations, plus nutrition classes and other support. For more info, visit hopechestbuffalo.org.

WELCOME MAT – Sweet Charlottes, a pre-school and child care center at 10255 Main St., Clarence, will hold an open house and networking session from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. All are welcome, including children. Refreshments will be served.
The open house will highlight the expanded pre-school for youngsters aged 2 to 4. The networking session will feature mothers who are “mompreneur” business owners. Items may be dropped off before weekend Masses. Volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 325 will help load her truck. Monetary donations also are welcome.
