Mariano elected vice president of the Bar Association of Erie County

Marianne Mariano, the federal public defender for the Western District of New York, was elected vice president of the Bar Association of Erie County Friday.

Melinda Disare became president in late April after the death of Bar president Gregory T. Miller, 46, of a heart attack on April 28.

Mariano, a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton and a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, will become the bar group's seventh woman president next June.

Paulette E. Ross was elected as treasurer and Michelle Parker was elected to a two-year term as deputy treasurer. Elected to three-year terms on the association's board of directors were Jennifer L. Fay, Mario A. Giacobbe, Jonathan S. Hickey and Peter Matthew Kooshoian. Anne E. Joynt and State Supreme Court Justice Frederick J. Marshall were elected to the bar group's Nominating Committee.
