Grand Island traffic stop leads to 3 drug charges

Three people were arrested Thursday night on Grand Island. A traffic stop led to the recovery of drugs and a stolen gun that had been taken from a home on Grand Island Boulevard, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said.

A sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle at about 7:23 p.m. on South State Parkway near the Interstate-190 for a traffic violation. Heroin and marijuana were found in the vehicle, as well as in the pockets of one passenger, the Sheriff's Office said. After executing a search warrant at the home of two of the vehicle's occupants, investigators recovered 3 ounces of cocaine, 2 pounds of marijuana, a stolen .357-caliber handgun and a digital scale with cocaine residue, authorities said.

Shane Corter, 31, and Jessica Polakiewicz, 34, both of Grand Island, and Walter Weber, 44, of Cheektowaga, face drug charges, the Sheriff's Office said. Corter and Polakiewicz were also charged with weapons possession.
