Dog attack leaves Niagara Falls boy bleeding from head and face

A 7-year-old boy was severely injured after he was attacked by two dogs on 70th Street on Wednesday, according to Niagara Falls police.

The first officer to arrive at about 3:15 p.m. in a yard on the 200 block of 70th found the boy bleeding extensively from severe injuries to his head and face. A woman, who had separated the two Rottweilers from the boy, was screaming for help as she struggled to keep the dogs held back, police said.

The boy, who was taken by ambulance to Women & Children's Hospital in Buffalo, is still being treated. Police did not have an update on his condition.

The boy is a relative of the dogs' owner, police said. The owner was told to quarantine the dogs for 10 days as part of an evaluation for cases of rabies.

Police said they were not aware of any prior incidents with these two dogs.
