Anna Mastoris, of Snyder, active in the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, died Monday in Healthwood Assisted Living at Williamsville. She was 98.
Born in Buffalo, the former Anna Modeas was a graduate of Hutchinson Central High School and earned an associate’s degree from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.
Known to many as Anne, Mrs. Mastoris was office manager for the Chapman Insurance Agency in Buffalo, where she worked for more than 30 years.
She retired in 1998.
A lifelong member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, she was a former Parish Council member and Sunday school teacher. She sang in the choir and was the first president of the Mothers Club.
The church elected her Woman of the Year in 1989.
She also served as district treasurer and secretary of the Daughters of Penelope, the national Hellenic women’s organization.
Her husband of 38 years, Charles, who owned Spanos Restaurant on Main Street in downtown Buffalo, died in 1977.
Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Lambros; a son, George; a brother, Harry G. Modeas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 146 W. Utica St., at Delaware Avenue.
