The Transit Drive-In goes retro, every Tuesday

Nothing says Western New York summer like a trip to the Transit Drive-In, and nothing on the venue’s schedule entices as much as its Retro Movie Tuesday lineup. The series of beloved films - this year features the likes of “The Wizard of Oz” and “Labyrinth” - has become a tradition at the drive-in.

There are a number of treats in this year’s retro lineup, but the most intriguing selection is the tribute to the late Jonathan Demme on Aug. 29. Other nights feature a pair of Cold War favorites, two Gene Wilder classics, and a couple 1980s gems about technology run amok. Here’s the full lineup:

  • June 6: “The Breakfast Club” and “St. Elmo's Fire”
  • June 13: “Rocky IV” and “The Hunt for Red October”
  • June 20: “The Monster Squad” and “The Lost Boys”
  • June 27: “The NeverEnding Story” and “Labyrinth”
  • July 11: “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Young Frankenstein”
  • July 18: “Dirty Dancing” and “La Bamba”
  • July 25: “The Wizard of Oz” and “Twister”
  • Aug. 1: “Army of Darkness” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”
  • Aug. 8: “Pretty In Pink” and “Say Anything”
  • Aug. 15: “The Princess Bride” and “When Harry Met Sally”
