What to watch for Wednesday

1. Girls lacrosse - Section VI Class B & C championships

All High Stadium on the Bennett High School campus is the place to be for tonight's pair of girls lacrosse championships.

Class B
- 1-Hamburg vs. 2-Niagara Wheatfield, 5 p.m.
Class C
- 1-Lake Shore vs. 2-West Seneca East, 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs are going for their sixth straight Class B title today against the Falcons, who lost to Hamburg twice during the regular season, 10-9 and 13-5. Winner moves on to Saturday's Far West Regional at 10 a.m. back at All High Stadium.

The Class C nightcap features Lake Shore and West Seneca East. The Eagles, whose two losses have come against Rochester foes, dominated the Trojans, 17-6, back on May 4. The Class C regional is set for noon at All High Stadium.

2. Baseball - Georgetown Cup semifinals

St. Mary's of Lancaster and St. Joe's have a chance to close out their respective three-game series and punch their tickets to next Monday's Georgetown Cup final at Coca-Cola Field.

Will Carlone threw 6.1 innings of two-hit ball for 4-St. Joe's yesterday in a 3-0 win over top-seeded and defending-champ Canisius. One of CJ Falk's two hits went for a double.

2-St. Mary's hosts 3-St. Francis but will play as the away team after winning a 5-0 game at St. Francis yesterday technically serving as the home team.

Alex Bish scattered five hits and struck out four Red Raiders in a complete game of work. Offensively, John Connolly went 2-3 with three RBIs, Zach Penksa went 2-4 with one RBI and Christian Szablewski had a double and scored twice.

Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
