Driver crashes into two men working on car in Porter Road driveway

A 65-year-old man may have had a medical emergency when he lost control of his SUV Tuesday on Porter Road in the Town of Niagara and crashed into two men who were working on a car in a driveway, Niagara Town Police Capt. Craig Guiliani said.

The driver, whose name was not released, was on Porter Road when his SUV crossed the center line, hit a ditch and went airborne, Guiliani said. The SUV struck a vehicle that two men were working on in the driveway, pinning one of them partially under a vehicle. People at the scene were able to extricate the man, identified as a 19-year old, police said.

Both the men working on the car were taken by Mercy EMS ambulance to Erie County Medical Center. The 19-year-old was treated for a hip fracture and the other man was treated and released. The driver who hit them was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital.

The Niagara County accident investigation unit was assisting the town police in the investigation of the crash. No charges have been filed.
