BRINDLEY, MARY ELIZABETH (CLARKE)

BRINDLEY - Mary Elizabeth (nee Clarke) Passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017 at the age of 87 in Reston, Virginia surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Robert James Brindley; devoted mother of Nancy (Charles Givans), John (Margie), Robert (Kristy), Kevin (Brigid); cherished "Nana" of 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by five brothers and one sister. Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 14, 1929 to John and Hannah Clarke. She attended Immaculata High School and Loyola University; met her future husband, a naval aviator, during his training at Glenview Naval Air Station in 1945. They were married on July 22, 1950 in Chicago and subsequently moved to Buffalo, New York. Mary was devoted to her family and friends. She was active in the community and parish of St. Amelia's. Her love of books and reading were shared with many students at Kenmore East High School as she worked in the school library for many years. She was a woman of incredible faith who was quick with a laugh and possessed the most beautiful blue eyes that radiated love and compassion to all she met. Donations to Just1Mike, a charitable foundation in honor of her late grandson, Michael, 413 Ridge Avenue, Clarendon Hills, IL 60514.
