Judge hands down sentences in sex crime and assault cases

LITTLE VALLEY -- Jaron Anthony Ball, 21, of Salamanca was sentenced by Cattaraugus County Judge Ronald D. Ploetz last week to a state prison term of two and one-third to seven years for his convictions on disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree and sexual misconduct. The incidents, including forced sexual intercourse, happened in the Town of Great Valley on Sept. 16.

Also before Judge Ploetz last week:

-- Amy L. Schoonamaker, 37, of Olean, was sent to state prison for one to three years for felony second-degree attempted assault in Olean onJan. 23 and for violating the three-years of probation she had been granted for a similar injury-linkedĀ incident there in June 2015.

-- Casey R. Gilcrease, 25, of Delevan, was ordered to serve six months in the county jail in Little Valley, followed by 10 years probation on his third-degree rape conviction for a sexual incident with a girl under the age of 17 in the Town of Machias on Nov. 12.
