Northtown Automotive seeks approval for Getzville Road parking expansion

Northtown Automotive is moving ahead with its plans to build 468 parking spaces on land at Getzville Road and Sheridan Drive that it is buying from Temple Beth Tzedek, as it negotiates a lease with Dent Neurologic Institute for 300 of the spaces.

The dealership has filed a site plan with the town, and the Amherst Planning Board must review the project.

Northtown is buying a nearly 10-acre site at 621 Getzville Road from Temple Beth Tzedek, which is building an expanded synagogue with B'nai Shalom on North Forest Road.

The 468 parking spaces would sit between the synagogue, to the west, and Northtown Kia, Mazda and Subaru, to the east, at 3890 Sheridan. Dent sits at 3980 Sheridan, where parking is at a premium. The dealership and Dent haven't signed a lease yet, said Northtown co-owner Larry Schreiber.

Northtown eventually plans to move its administrative and training offices into the synagogue building, Schreiber said.
