Doug Whaley bucked the trend of fired Pegula Sports and Entertainment executives remaining silent about their performances.
Whaley was a guest Monday on SiriusXM NFL Radio and was gracious about his departure. He took the blame for not getting the job done in his seven years with the Bills, four as GM.
Whaley reduced the problem to his failure to find a franchise quarterback.
In explaining himself, Whaley revealed yet again he wasn't up to the task.
"If I get a shot again," Whaley said, "I'm going to try to map out a road map" to acquire a quarterback as quickly as possible while building the roster.
What rookie GM doesn't know this from the jump? How did Whaley not understand EJ Manuel wasn't the answer when Doug Marrone preferred Kyle Orton off his sofa eight days before the 2014 opener, or when Rex Ryan preferred Matt Cassel to Manuel as the backup?
Tyrod Taylor wasn't signed in 2015 to start but easily emerged as the best option despite question marks.
And yet Whaley still neglected to map out a plan. What a waste of time for Bills fans.
