Police seek gunman who fired into Lackawanna block party

Lackawanna Police Sunday continued to seek public help in tracking down the man who allegedly fired more than a dozen times from a handgun into a loud block party on Holland Avenue just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

One partygoer was shot in the lower back and taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of what police described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The shooting victim reportedly was standing near the intersection of Holland and McGuire Street when the gunfire began.

Police said they received numerous noise complaints about the gathering because of loud music played by a DJ. More than 100 persons were attending the block party before the shooting began. The gunman reportedly was standing on Fowler Street when he opened fire.

Police ask anyone with information to call 822-4900.
