Mills Street man arrested in East Side knock-down robbery

Alexis Gonzalez-Saez was arrested by Buffalo police shortly after he allegedly knocked a woman to the ground on Jefferson Avenue near Sycamore Street Saturday morning and stole her bank debit card and cellphone.

Gonzalez-Saez, 35, of Mills Street was apprehended minutes after the incident about 9:04 a.m. He was charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny, third and fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

The victim told officers that after the suspect knocked her to the ground and took her debit card, she tried to call 911 on her cellphone. The attacker then took the cellphone and smashed it, apparently unaware police already were speeding to the scene. Gonzalez-Saez remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center Sunday.
