Grand Island man's weapons case sent to grand jury

The felony weapons case against Jeffrey C. Copp, 52, of Grand Island has been transferred for review by an Erie County grand jury, Amherst town court officials confirmed Friday.

The case against Copp, who was arrested on felony and misdemeanor weapons counts after an early morning traffic stop in the 2000 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard May 4, had been pending before Town Justice Geoffrey K. Klein.

Copp, who was also charged during that traffic stop about 5 a.m. May 4, was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and several traffic violation charges. He remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center Friday.
