News from an editor's perspective will be the topic of a lecture Sunday in Williamsville led by James Dao, Op-Ed editor for The New York Times.
Dao, a graduate of Williamsville South High School, oversees the daily Op-Ed page, the Op-Ed pages of The New York Times international edition and the Sunday Review.
Over a 24-year career at The Times, Dao has covered Congress, the State Department, the 2000 presidential campaign and the military. Prior to being named Op-Ed editor in Jan. 2016, Dao was deputy national editor.
The discussion, which is free and open to the public, begins at 12:30 p.m. in Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton Street, Williamsville. The lecture titled "A Day in the Life of a NY Times Editor" is part of the church's "Common Ground: Navigating the Road to Truth" series.
