Roswell Park Cancer Institute calls it "Chapter 2," and it's a healing weekend of meditation, yoga, nutritional expertise, expert speakers and more for cancer survivors and patients.
"'Chapter 2" is more comprehensive and more hands-on than anything we’ve done before," said Mary Reid, Roswell's director of cancer screening and survivorship.
The event, planned for June 16 and 17, at Roswell features a talk by integrative medicine expert Alejandro Chaoul, who teaches Tibetan meditation and mind-body techniques throughout the world. There also will be interactive break-out sessions designed to address the unique needs of living with and after cancer.
Participants will be encouraged to keep a diary during the event so they have a "totally unique and personalized experience they can build on," Reid said.
Participants also will have the chance to connect with other cancer survivors.
Online registration is available at https://www.roswellpark.org/survivorsday. Pre-registration of $20 by June 8 is required. The event will be held in Roswell's Research Studies Center, Carlton at Elm streets, across from the main hospital.
