Three past champions and the top qualifier were among the winners during the match-play portion of the 54th George A. Obenauer Masters Bowling Tournament on Thursday at Kenmore Lanes.

Four-time champion Brad Angelo of Lockport defeated Pete Zmozynski of Depew, 648-601, to advance to Friday's winner's bracket action, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Elimination bracket matches follow at 7:45 and 9 p.m.

Niagara Falls' Mike Hanes won a clash between Niagara County competitors, defeating Lockport's Vern Dietz, 610-587. Another ex-champ, Tony Dolan of West Seneca, advanced with a 619-563 win over Aaron Cratsenberg of Cheektowaga.

Top qualifier Andy Rettig of Hamburg cruised past Cheektowaga's Dan Antkowiak, 627-554.

Tyler Molina of Buffalo rolled the top series of the day, 691, to advance in the tournament, which ends Sunday.
