Aide to Grand Island supervisor resigns, will run for Town Board

Cyndy Montana announced Monday that she will resign as Town Supervisor Nathan McMurray's secretary at the beginning of June and try to gain a seat on the Grand Island Town Board.

Montana said she already has received the Democratic endorsement and will seek endorsements from the Working Families and Women's Equality parties.

Montana has worked as secretary for Town Supervisor Nathan McMurray the past year and a half. She said she accepted McMurray's offer to work as his assistant because she "truly believed in his vision for Grand Island."

She ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the council two years ago when McMurray, also a Democrat, ran for supervisor. She lost narrowly by 50 votes.

Democrats and Republicans on the Town Board thanked her for her work. Emily Wynne will take on the role of secretary to the supervisor on June 5.
