Harmonia goes Hollywood with two concerts

The Harmonia Chamber Singers are known for their explorations of challenging classics, both modern and ancient. On May 19 and 20, however, the group is ending its season with "A Night at the Theater." It's a concert of music from movies, television and musicals.  On tap are songs from such shows as "Wicked," "Godspell," "Carousel," "The Sound of Music," "Miss Saigon," "Ella Enchanted," "Primal Fear, "12 Years a Slave," "The Tudors, "Henry V" and "Fame."

Other area musicians also are participating, including Vernon Huff, Rob Deemer and the Lockport and Wilson High School Concert Choirs. The May 20 concert will see the premiere of a new piece by Deemer, Harmonia's composer-in-residence.

Harmonia sings at 7:30 p.m. May 19 at All Saints Church (76 Church St, Lockport). The concert May 20 is at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral (54 Franklin St.).

A $15 donation is requested. Visit harmoniacs.org.
