Get ready to pay a bit more to dock your boat in the Tonawandas' Gateway Harbor this summer.
The daily fee, without electricity for boats 25 feet and under, would rise from $5 to $10 under a request by the Gateway Committee. The fee for boats 26 feet to 40 feet would rise from $10 to $15. Fees to dock overnight with electric and water service would rise from $15 a day to $25 for boats 25 feet and under, and from $20 to $30 for boats 26 feet to 40 feet.
Even with the higher fees, the shared harbor along the Erie Canal between the cities of North Tonawanda and Tonawanda would remain a bargain, said City of Tonawanda Mayor Rick Davis.
The fees would still be less than half of what the City of Buffalo charges, he said.
Both cities must change their municipal codes to make the changes requested by the Gateway Committee. The fee hike is on the City of Tonawanda Common Council agenda on Tuesday.
