The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus is sporting more shiny red bicycles at a second station that has opened at High and Ellicott streets.
The new Reddy Bikeshare station offers five more bikes on the campus, bringing the total number of "smart bikes" to 12 on the campus.
The other existing rental bike station is on Ellicott Street across from the Thomas R. Beecher Jr. Innovation Center.
Citywide, 200 of the bikes were installed in April. The program, which began last summer, is a partnership between Shared Mobility and Independent Health.
The additional Medical Campus bike station is part of a broad initiative to expand alternative methods of transportation on and around the Medical Campus, which has 12,000 employees. The number of workers and students on campus is projected to grow by another 3,000 in coming months as the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital and University at Buffalo's new medical school open.
