If your kids are fans of Thomas the Tank Engine, they'll be thrilled to hear this: Thomas is chugging into town. The annual "Day Out with Thomas: Friendship Tour 2017" will zip into Medina, giving little engineers a chance to head to the mainline for some family fun.
"Day Out With Thomas" includes a 25-minute ride to meet Sir Topham Hatt, the controller of the railway. The ride takes you right back to Imagination Station for such activities as face painting, stamping, temporary tattoos and storybook reading.
Folks at the museum suggest you arrive about an hour or so before your scheduled departure. Each event features a ride and hours of fun activities, so plan on spending a couple of hours.
There's no outside food or beverages allowed, but they do have concession stands in the museum and at Imagination Station. They'll have a food tent, so you can sit and have hot dogs, burgers or pizza.
There are restrooms on the train. Strollers are not allowed onboard, so you might want to leave yours in the car.
The event helps to support the museum, which also is home to more than 7,000 artifacts on railroading from the steam era to the modern age; as well as the state's longest model train layout - at 204 feet long by 14 feet wide. My kids had fun walking around the museum when we were there for the Polar Express ride.
