Fire damages former restaurant supply store on Broadway

A Broadway building sustained about $65,000 in damage from a fire Wednesday morning, the Buffalo Fire Department said.

The blaze started on the first floor of 395 Broadway, once the address of Bi-Rite Fixtures Corp., a restaurant supply store. The two-story building sits at the corner of Broadway and Iroquois Place, about a third of a mile west of Jefferson Avenue. Several websites list the business as permanently closed.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the first floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters were still on scene at 6:20 a.m.
