Anti-Collins billboard in Hamburg targets his health-care vote

An anti-Chris Collins billboard has gone up in Hamburg.

Michelle Schoeneman, a teacher and member of a group called Citizens Against Collins, has now sponsored her second sign this year, criticizing the Clarence Republican. The newest, located at the Seven Corners intersection in Hamburg, flashes a picture of Collins with the message: “Chris Collins to WNYers: Drop Dead!”

Schoeneman said the congressman’s vote last week to drastically alter the Affordable Care Act inspired her Internet appeal to raise funds. She collected the $1,440 needed for a week’s rent within three hours via a message, she said, with enough left over for a second week.

“After his vote I realized I needed to do something,” she said. “Within 15 hours we had the contract signed and the billboard up.

“His message is clear,” she added. “His vote basically tells us to drop dead.”
