North Tonawanda woman freed from wreck after hitting tree

NORTH TONAWANDA – A 35-year-old woman was extricated from her car after the vehicle struck a tree Tuesday morning on Tremont Street, according to the North Tonawanda Fire Department.

The North Tonawanda woman was pinned under the dash and firefighters freed her from the wreck. She remained conscious and alert during the extrication and suffered a cut to her leg, the fire department said. She was taken to Erie County Medical Center.

The one-car crash, which happened on Tremont between Main and Marion streets, was reported at 6:41 a.m. A male passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash was able to get out on his own, the fire department said.

North Tonawanda police are investigating the cause of the crash.
