Driver stabbed on Boone Street after he parked his pickup truck

Andrew Soto, 24, who has no known local address, was arrested on South Park Avenue Friday afternoon about four hours after he allegedly repeatedly stabbed a man.

The victim parked his pickup truck in the first block of Boone Street about 11 a.m. Friday.

Soto was charged with first-degree assault for allegedly stabbing a 36-year-old south Buffalo man in both his right and left hands. He was also charged with third-degree criminal mischief for sticking a knife into the left rear tire of his victim's pickup before fleeing. He was arrested in the 1800 block of South Park Avenue about 3 p.m.

Soto approached the parked pickup and began stabbing the driver as soon as he opened the driver's side window. No motive was listed for the attack. The victim was treated at the Erie County Medical Center.

Soto remained in custody Saturday night.
