Amherst man surrenders to police after call about despondent person

A man surrendered to Amherst Police after they were alerted to a report of a "despondent person" at an address on Dorchester Road, police said in a statement Saturday.

The report came in at about 9:15 p.m. A police intervention team went to the address and a man surrendered to police without incident.

He was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment under the state mental hygiene law.
