JAMESTOWN – Police on Thursday night arrested both the alleged perpetrator and the victim of domestic violence after they said officers found a loaded handgun within reach of 4- and 7-year-old children.
Jamestown police said officers saw Erik V. Morrison, 29, physically assaulting a woman at an apartment in the 400 block of East Fourth Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. The two children witnessed the incident, police said. A loaded pistol also was found in the apartment.
The woman, who police said became combative and tried to push the officers out of the residence, was charged with obstructing governmental administration, two counts of child endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
Morrison was charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of child endangerment, police said.
The children, who were not harmed, were put in the custody of relatives. Child Protective Services is investigating.
Morrison and the woman were both being held in the Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment.
