Buffalo boxers advance at National Golden Gloves

Buffalo boxers Charles Garner and Akhmed Aliyev are 2-0 in their weight divisions at the Golden Gloves National Tournament in Lafayette, La.

Garner, a Police Athletic League fighter at 152 pounds, opened with a 4-1 decision over Ya'vontae Christopher of Mid-South on Tuesday and followed up with a 5-0 decision over Terrance Coleman of Omaha, Neb., on Wednesday.

Aliyev has scored a pair of 5-0 decisions at 141 pounds  - over Kechayn Jenkins of Tri-State on Monday and over Ismael Gutierrez of Rocky Mountain on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Marcus Floyd of Buffalo decisioned Jonathan Hernandez of Omaha, 4-1, at 114 pounds.
