The standings: This will be a series between the top two teams in the International League North. Buffalo leads with a 14-8 record, while Rochester is at 12-9.
Pitchers: The scheduled pitching matchup for Game One is Buffalo’s Josh Grube (2-1, 4.05) against Rochester’s David Hurlbut (1-2, 1.02). The 35-year-old Grube has spent time at the Triple-A level for the past nine seasons. Hurlbut is a 27-year-old left-hander who is in Rochester for a third straight season. He spent most of last season in Double-A Chattanooga. Game Two pits Buffalo's Casey Lawrence (0-0, 1.80) vs. Nik Turley (0-0, 0.00). Turley is just up from Double-A. He struck out 14 in his last start.
Promotion: It's National Ice Cream day. Chocolate ice cream will sell for $1.
Last game: The Bisons picked up a nice win by a 6-1 score in Durham against the Bulls on Sunday. Luis Santos was sharp on the mount, retiring 11 in a row at one point. Buffalo picked him up offensively with five runs in the fourth inning.
In the past: The teams divided four games in Buffalo during a series played in the first week of the season.
Hot wings: Rochester is on a two-game winning streak. The Red Wings took two out of three against Louisville over the weekend.
Prospects: The top players in the Twins' system are playing at lower levels. According to Baseball Prospectus, the top-rated prospect in Rochester is Abalberto Mejia, No. 8 on the list. He's a left-handed pitcher.
