Ex-wife behind wheel when truck kills Buffalo pedestrian

The pedestrian who died Sunday in Buffalo after being struck by a truck was the ex-husband of the woman behind the wheel, according to a family member.

Police said the man – identified in a police accident report as Donnell L. Sharp, 39 – was struck at about 5:30 a.m. on East Morris Avenue and later died at Erie County Medical Center.

The driver of the truck was identified in the accident report as Cuanshadee M. Palmer, 37, of Guilford Street.

Palmer was Sharp's ex-wife, said his sister, Marquita Sharp.

A Buffalo police spokesman confirmed Sharp and Palmer knew each other, but declined further comment.

Palmer's truck drove up on the sidewalk and struck a tree in addition to hitting Sharp. There were two other people inside her vehicle at the time of the incident, according to the report.

The Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate.
