Cheektowaga looking for July 4th parade entries

The Fourth of July is still two months away, but Cheektowaga officials are already planning the annual Independence Day parade.

"The Independence Day parade is synonymous with Cheektowaga," said Town Supervisor Diane Benczkowski. "We are thankful for our past participants and have already reached out to them to take part once again, but we are also seeking new bands, groups and organizations from the town to bring a new spirit and energy to the event."

Anyone interested in marching may contact the supervisor at 686.3465.

The parade begins at noon at the intersection of Walden Avenue and Harlem Road. It continues down Harlem and ends at Cheektowaga Town Park.

In related activities, the Boys of Summer band will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 2 at the Casimir Pulaski Cultural Center at Town Park. Country music artist Ricky Lee will perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, July 3 on the stage in an event being called Freedom Fest, which will salute veterans.
