RIDGEWAY - An Orleans County man faces charges stemming from a domestic incident that happened Saturday, the Orleans County Sheriff's Office said.
Gerardo Quiros, 30, of Ridge Road, who was arrested Monday afternoon, is accused of locking a female in the bathroom and not letting her leave the home, smashing her phone when she tried to call 911, punching her in the head and obstructing her breathing, the Sheriff's Office said.
Quiros fled the scene into a wooded area when police arrived on Saturday, the Sheriff's Office said. After several hours, the search was called off because investigators believed Quiros likely left the area. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office and Lockport police arrested him at an unspecified location at about 2 p.m. Monday, the Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities charged Quiros with second-degree strangulation, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree harassment, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Quiros was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff's Office and is scheduled to appear in Ridgeway Town Court on Friday.
