NFL Draft Position Grades: Running back

[2017 Draft Rankings: WR | QB | RBTE | OL | CB | S | LB | DT | Edge]

Class Grade: A. The long wait is over. As far back as 2014, NFL talent-evaluators began talking up the level of talent at running back in this draft. There aren’t only exceptional players at the top end, but they also can be found in the middle and even the late rounds. Teams have been shying away from investing high picks in running backs, given that many good ones have been found on the third day and even as undrafted free agents. Still, there probably will be three running backs – Fournette, McCaffrey, and Cook – taken in the first round and likely making immediate impact.

Day One

Leonard Fournette, LSU, 6-0, 240 pounds

Christian McCaffrey, Stanford, 5-11, 202 pounds

Dalvin Cook, Florida State, 5-10, 210 pounds

Day Two

Alvin Kamara, Tennessee, 5-10, 214 pounds

Joe Mixon, Oklahoma, 6-1, 228 pounds

Samaje Perine, Oklahoma, 5-11, 233 pounds

Day Three

Kareem Hunt, Toledo, 5-10, 216 pounds

D'Onta Foreman, Texas, 6-0, 233 pounds

Marlon Mack, South Florida, 5-11, 213 pounds
