Franklinville/Ellicottville coach Chad Bartoszek has been selected as a master trainer within USA Football's Head's Up Program.
He is one of 19 football leaders from 15 states to take part in the program, a medically-endorsed one meant to increase safety standards for participants in the sport.
“Master Trainers are leaders and educators, and work nationwide to implement important standards for parents, administrators, and coaches to ensure proper health and safety protocols are in place and to unify the approach to teaching football-specific techniques for the well-being of our athletes,” said Scott Hallenbeck, USA Football's CEO and Executive Director, in a statement.
The group of master trainers includes youth, high school and college coaches as well as athletic trainers and former NFL players. Among the items master trainers will learn about and then be expected to pass along to various youth and scholastic coaches include CDC-approved concussion recognition/response procedures, equipment fitting, tackling and blocking fundamentals, hydration and sudden cardiac arrest protocols.
