DWI suspect employs 'oops' tactic after speeding past police vehicle

NEWFANE – A Wilson man was charged with driving while intoxicated after speeding past a Niagara County Sheriff's patrol vehicle, then pulling onto the shoulder of the road in hopes the patrol vehicle would pass, deputies said.

Doyle W. Alexander, 30, of Dorwood Park, Wilson, also was charged with driving on the shoulder of the roadway and a moving violation. Police said the incident occurred Monday on Ridge Road, where deputies clocked Alexander's car going 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.
