Ontario man suffers leg injury while hiking in Niagara Gorge

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – A 56-year-old Brighton, Ont., man suffered a leg injury during a fall while hiking along the Niagara Gorge Saturday, the Niagara Parks Police Service announced Sunday.

While hiking with family and friends near the Whirlpool Terminus of the Fisherman's Trail, the victim lost his footing and fell, police said. Emergency responders attended to the injury before the man was removed from the gorge by helicopter, then taken to a hospital by ambulance, police said. The injury was not life-threatening, police added.

The victim's name was not released.
